All of Your Heart

“I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.”

Jeremiah 24:7

What could be so important to God that He would talk about it in His Word over 800 times?

What if I told you it was our hearts?

That’s right. Your heart and my heart.

Sweet friend, the Bible discusses our hearts over 800 times because God cares deeply about the status of our hearts.

The term “whole heart” comes up so often and is mirrored with other phrases like “all your heart” and “heartily” because God wants us to understand that it’s when we are whole-hearted that we are best suited to experience all of the wonders of having a relationship with Him; it’s when we focus with all of our hearts on knowing and serving His heart that we can walk in the truth of knowing God not only loves us, but He desires a close relationship with us.

Take a look at the scripture address shared above again: Jeremiah 24:7.

Chapter 24, verse 7 – Does anyone else feel like that can’t be a coincidence?

God has given us a heart to know Him – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

He is our God and we are His people – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Beloved, God desires a relationship with you so strongly that He created you with a heart to know Him. But, like so many things with God, He gives you so much more. In Jeremiah 24:7, we also see a promise from God to you and to me that – should we wander in distraction or even in straight up disobedience, we will always be His people, and He will always be our God.

Need more evidence?

  • Adam and Eve disobeyed God, but still He sought them out and restored them to fellowship with Him (Genesis 3).
  • Elijah abandoned his God-given mission out of fear, but still God sought him out, encouraged him, renewed his purpose, and set him back on the mission (1 Kings 19).
  • Peter denied that he knew Jesus three times, but still Jesus sought him out, restored him to fellowship, and gave him purpose (Luke 22:31-34, 47-62; John 15:1-19).
  • Saul who became Paul persecuted early Christians and denied Jesus was God’s Son, but still Jesus sought him out, revealed truth to him, and gave him a new mission (Acts 8:1-3, 9:1-31).

Sweet friend, no matter how far we stray, God is faithful to seek us. No matter what we have or have not done, we can always return to God with all of our hearts.

No one can see God, but 24/7 He is always our God and 24/7 we are always His people. Such is His great love for us!
