Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.
Romans 8:1-2 (CSB)
Happy Monday, friend!
I’m glad you’re walking with me today because we’re going to pick up where we left off Friday in our exploration of what it means that there is no condemnation for those in Christ.
Friday, I shared this lie that the enemy employs against us:
When you sin, God disapproves of you. You can’t go to God with sin in your life; He’ll look down on you with displeasure at best and punish you at worst.
and then I shared this foundational and absolutely life-changing truth:
God LOVES you unconditionally. He NEVER disapproves of you personally. You can ALWAYS come to Him just as you are. Coming to Him is the ONLY way you will be free of sin and shame and anxiety.
How do I know this to be true?
Because while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). We didn’t have to do a single thing to earn His sacrifice for us. I mean, think about it, we weren’t even alive yet and Christ died for us. God’s word is clear that salvation is for “whosoever” believes on Jesus Christ (John 3:16).
And if God will give His only Son to save people who don’t even believe yet, how much more will He give to those who do believe on Him?
So much more.
When we come to God:
- with our fear, He takes care of us (1 Peter 5:7).
- with our lack of understanding, He gives wisdom (James 1:5).
- with our doubt, He reveals truth to strengthen our belief (John 20:27).
- with our weakness, He gives us strength (Psalm 46:1).
- with our temptation, He provides a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13).
- with our sin, He forgives and cleanses us (1 John 1:9).
Dear heart, if we embrace the truth that we can ALWAYS come to God, then we will fully experience what it means that there is no condemnation for those in Christ.
God is not sitting in Heaven condemning you or me or anybody.
God is actively pursuing you and me and everyone in love.
Make no mistake, God disapproves of sin, and He disapproves of what sin does in our lives. He never disapproves of us personally, but He won’t sit by and let sin consume us either.
But, I think that’s a thought for another day. For today, I hope you’ll read and reflect on the verses shared above. You may want to read Romans 5 also and meditate on what it means to be justified in Christ.
And friend, whatever it is that you’ve been too afraid of God’s disapproval to talk to Him about, I pray you’ll reach out and talk to Him about it today. He desires for you to cast your cares on Him. His love never fails. He is mighty to save you from anything you face.
