Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8
In I Peter 4:8, God’s Word tells us to love each other deeply, for love covers a multitude of sins.
What better example do we have of this loving forgiveness than Jesus Christ laying down His life for us?
He who was both God and Man (Philippians 2:5-7).
Jesus knew every sin every one of us would ever commit and yet chose to dwell for a time in earthly flesh so we might understand His love more (John 1:14; John 3:16)
Jesus chose to die a death of unspeakable pain so we might fully grasp the depth of His infinite love for us (John 15:13-16).
With His model of perfect love before us, we are called to love each other better (John 15:17).
Knowing the sacrifice Jesus made for us, we are called to give our all to Him (Romans 12:1).
Dear heart, I’ve no doubt you have been hurt by someone at some time.
Forgive them.
Beloved, most likely you have been the instrument of your own hurt at some time too.
Forgive yourself.
Forgive others and forgive yourself seventy-times-seven and when they or you fail again, forgive again, for God forgives all who call upon His name (Matthew 18:15-22; Psalms 86:5; Ephesians 1:7).
No strings. No provisional clauses. No ifs or buts.
Be kind. Be compassionate. Be forgiving.
Show the love of Christ in all you say and do.
This old world needs it today like it’s never needed it before.
