All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
2 Timothy 3:16
Sweet friends, the enemy works hard to make us feel insecure, to cause us to doubt, to offer us alternate pathways to walk. And as much as I hate giving that snake in the grass an ounce of acknowledgement, he’s had a lot of time to fine tune what he does. I know he twists me up in doubt and confusion from time to time and it often takes me a while to realize it’s him pulling the strings. Then, I get mad at myself, down on myself, for being so easily caught and the negative way I see myself opens the door wider for that so-and-so to come at me.
Oh dear heart, I hope that’s just my story, but I have a feeling it’s your story too.
So what do we do when the enemy comes slithering in? How do we recognize it’s him and kick him out? Is there a way we can protect ourselves in advance?
The answer is in the Word, the Word, the Word.
You see friends, our great and mighty God – oh how His grace and mercy are needed each day! – our God has already whipped the enemy (though the enemy doesn’t want you to know that) and our victory is secure! The spiritual battles we face on earth are but individual moments in a war that God has already won (John 16:33; Romans 8:37-38).
He has written His victory in His Word and His Word is truth (John 17:17; Psalm 119:160).
In His goodness, God has also recorded every piece of instruction we need to live a life of victory, to rebuke the enemy, to avoid his snares, to overcome him and his minions in spiritual battle (2 Timothy 3:16).
Furthermore, God has given us His Spirit to help us understand and apply His Word (John 16:12-15).
Beloved, God’s Word is His love letter to us. A record of His loving faithfulness, an assurance of His eternal love for us, a daily guide to walking in His loving embrace, victorious over the schemes of the enemy.
Read it. Study it. Trust it. Love it.
God’s Word is a sword that cuts through every chain of confusion and doubt forged by the enemy’s lies (Hebrews 4:12).
Christian, we are called to live free, declared more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of falling for the enemy’s nonsense. It’s time to light up the darkness, to live boldly in the victory already won, to embrace God’s Word in full and walk it out in faith!
