But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
1 Peter 3:15-16
The Word of God teaches us that people are known by their fruits (Matthew 7:17-20) and defines for us what the fruits of the Spirit look like in a godly person (Galatians 5:22-23). Along with having a clear conscience (1 Peter 3:15-16), His Word also tells us to abstain from even the appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22).
Sweet Sibling, I don’t know what storm you may be in right now, but I I know if you’re not currently in a storm, you will be soon enough. That’s simply how storms work. Whether you’re in the midst of the waves or enjoying a calm sea for the moment, it bears remembering that sometimes the longer a storm rages, the more our faith is tested, the easier it may seem to take a shortcut to our goals or to compromise on how we get there.
But God, God does not give His children a Spirit of fear or timidity – He gives those who believe on Him a Spirit of power, of love, of self-discipline and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
Though the principalities of darkness influence others to go low, we, the Followers of Christ, joint heirs with Christ, those born again into the Family of God, we must always go high. We must seek the Father’s wisdom, act according to His teachings, walk by faith, and give no man or woman any valid reason to say evil things about us. It is in this way that we bring glory to God and secure the victory through Him.
Victory in Jesus may not always bring us our earthly desires and I’m learning that’s ok. After all, what good does it do to gain the whole world if we lose our own soul in the process? (Mark 8:36)
All the treasure we need is found in the Father. Why would we look anywhere else?
Whatever storm you’re currently facing or will face in the future, do not fret, do not fear, for those who rest in the Father’s hand are securely held and cannot be plucked from it (Isaiah 41:10, 49:16).
Keep your eyes and your ways locked on Him and He will give you strength and provision for the fulfillment of His will and to increase His glory (Philippians 4:19).
Love justice.
Seek mercy.
Walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8).
