3-4-23 Saturday Encouragement

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.

Psalm 23:2-3a

Sweet friends, I’m an early to rise, early to bed kind of gal. I rarely sleep in, even on Saturdays and I rarely cat-nap. I’m a go, go, go, kind of gal 7 days a week. So, any time I sleep in past 6 am or fall asleep mid-afternoon or evening, I can only think that the Lord knows I needed the rest more than I did.

– more than I did-

Dear heart, isn’t that always the way of it with our Savior and Lord? Doesn’t He always know and do more than we ever could?

Consider:

Who loves you more than you do?
– God (John 3:16, Romans 5:8, Zephaniah 3:17)

Who believes in your purpose more than you do?
– God (Ephesians 2:10, Jeremiah 1:5 and 29:11)

Who knows what’s good for you better than you do?
– God (Romans 7:19, Isaiah 55:8-9, Proverbs 3:11-12, Hebrews 12:11)

Who does what’s good for you more than you will?
– God (Romans 8:28, Philippians 4:19, 2 Corinthians 9:8)

I could go on and on with infinite examples of how God Almighty sees more, knows more, loves more, does more than we could ever think or imagine.

Simply said, God is the embodiment of more.

In Him and through Him and by Him, we have more rest, more peace, more joy, more comfort, more hope, more love, more help, more wisdom, more security, more of anything and everything that He knows we need because God knows us better than we know ourselves.

Some mornings God knows I need sleep in to recover from a blessed but very busy week. He also knows I’m so dedicated (or stubborn) that I’d be right up at 5 am riding my bike with fatigued legs and be useless the next day if He didn’t keep me in bed some mornings.

Beloved, what do you need this day that God understands better than you do? Or what do you need that God is willing to bring to fruition more than you are?

If you aren’t sure, ask Him.

Commit yourself to His will and see where He takes you. He may make you lie down in green pastures (or a comfy couch) to get the recovery you need. He may lead you to the mountaintop or to a new friend or to a new career.

Who knows what awaits us when we follow the Lord wholeheartedly?

Not us, that’s for sure.

But we can trust that wherever God brings us, it will be for our good and His glory.
