In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
John 1:4
I know that, like me, many of you have said you struggle in the winter because it’s just so dark. When I get the winter blues, I turn to John 1:4, and this morning I want to share the encouragement I find there.
Winter is certainly a dark season.
A muddy one too and bleak.
Yet – though it be dark all around us, we must remember that inside we carry the light of the world.
Though the darkness oppresses our senses and our emotions and wreaks havoc on our sleep schedule (I just barely get up some mornings), because we have Jesus in our hearts, we have an internal light that pushes back the darkness.
We don’t have to let the darkness control our emotions or oppress us.
We can open our eyes to the darkness and put our feet on the floor bravely each morning knowing that inside us we carry the light of the world and that God will shine His light wherever we go in His name and light up any endeavor we do for His glory.
God’s light will carry us through this season and just on the other side of this season is Spring and Easter and the fulfillment of His promises through Christ’s sacrifice for us.
Let His light bring you through the darkness!
Shine His light brightly in your attitude and actions so that you light the way for others who are struggling!
