1-15-23 Sunday Encouragement

Abraham Lincoln is quoted as once saying, “I am a success today because I had a friend who believed in me, and I didn’t have the heart to let him down”.

I don’t know what friend or friends old Honest Abe dedicated this saying to, but I have to wonder, given that he was known for his great compassion, if his friend may have been Jesus. As I reflect on the quote, many earthly friends come to mind, but over and over again my heart returns to Jesus.

  • Jesus – who believes in me so much that He descended from His throne in Heaven to live and teach and die for me.
  • Jesus – who believes in me so much that He overthrew death to make a way for me to overthrow death through Him and to be with Him forever in Heaven.
  • Jesus – who believes in me so much that He sent the Holy Spirit to walk with me and talk with me that we may stay connected always.

Sweet friends, do me a favor this morning. Read that list again and everywhere that I wrote “me”, know that “me” means you too. Jesus came for you. Jesus believes in you. Jesus wants to be connected completely to you, to walk with you and talk with you and be your greatest friend. Go ahead and reread that list. Soak it in. Then read on.

Dear heart, there is a friend who walks closer than a brother. There is a friend who will encourage you, comfort you, and rescue you. There is a friend who will never let you down and never let you go.

Whether you’ve known Him for years, or are just learning about Him today, run to Jesus this morning.

If you aren’t sure how, send me a message and I’ll be happy to talk to you about Him.

If you’re afraid He doesn’t want to see you or meet you, be assured He does. I’m here if you want to talk about that too.

Have a blessed day friends and know that you have a friend in Jesus!
