"His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 1:3-8
Peter calls on us to supplement our faith to ensure that we are effective and fruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The writer of Hebrews shares that “faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (ch.11, v.1).
Sweet friend, our faith in God is the foundation upon which all other pleasing qualities develop.
- Because we have faith in God’s promises, we do not worry.
- Because we do not worry, we are able to be confident.
- Because we are confident, we are able to be honest.
- Because we are honest, we are able to be humble.
- Because we are humble, we are able to be kind.
- Because we are kind, we able to actively love others.
- Because our love is active, we are able to effectively direct others to the Source of our love, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Fruitfulness starts with faith.
May we be found increasingly faithful each day!
May our fruit be evermore plentiful than the day before!
