Like a Tree

A tree with deep roots finds water in times of drought. In winter it bears the weight of ice and snow with grace; its limbs may crack and groan or even break but the tree still stands strong after the thaw. In the storm its branches may be whipped about by wind, but the tree itself is not uprooted.

Like the tree, we too can withstand the trials of our time with grace and strength if we are rooted deeply in Christ.

Sweet friends, where have your roots taken hold? Are they holding to the shallow things of this world? Easily overturned? Often parched and dry? Or are they rooted in deep love of Christ? Standing strong in His Word? Nourished by living water?

Heavenly Father, thank you for the living water, for the Source of life that never runs dry! Help your children Father to remain rooted firmly in the deep love of Your Son, Jesus Christ. May we be a people who stand firm in Your Word! May we withstand the withering droughts, long winters, and brutal storms of life with grace and strength for You God are our hope and our confidence!
