Standing on the Promises (6)

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies. And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”

John 11:25-26

What a powerful promise we have from the Lord in John 11:25-26! What a wonderful hope He has given us!

Sweet friends, while our bodies live on this earth God offers life where once we had only spiritual death. When our bodies live no more, He has created a way for us to live in spirit eternally in Heaven with Him.

After proclaiming this promise to Martha, Jesus asked her , “Believest thou this?” and showed us how straightforward the path to salvation truly is. There’s no hoop to jump through, no subscription to buy. It truly only takes a “yes” to Christ’s question: Do you believe me?

Dear hearts, I made the decision to accept Christ’s gift as a young woman and it is hands down the best decision I have ever made. Looking back over the 30 years or so since then, I haven’t always followed Christ as closely as I should have; the struggle with earthly things has been and is still very real at times. However, even in those times when I have wandered a bit or when struggle came even on the narrow road, I have always felt life inside me giving me discernment to know the right path and also the courage to get back on it or the strength to stay on it. Though this body ages, I can honestly say I have no worry for myself for I know that I have an eternity to praise our Heavenly Father and to sing with the angels and to feast with loved ones in Heaven at this journey’s end.

Beloved one, I pray this is a testimony that you too can share, one of light and life, courage, strength, and hope for the future. If that isn’t a testimony you can give, if that still small voice that gives hope and strength and assurance of life eternal isn’t inside you this morning, please know that it can be. Salvation through Christ Jesus is always just one “yes” away. If you can testify to the “yes”, but you’ve wandered a bit, been waylaid by the world, then know that God is the God who always takes us back and a simple “Yes, Lord” to agree that you need to come back closes the gap between you and Him. Sweet friends, how great is our Lord who made the way for us! How light is the yoke that bears His promises! I pray earnestly this morning that you too have said or will say, “Yes” to Jesus’ question: Believest thou this? It’s a life changer.
